Hagen Bogdanski is an acclaimed cinematographer celebrated director. His credits include, The Lives of Others, Papillon, Songwriter Station, The Young Victoria, The Physician, and Case 39. Uncontrolled spoke with Hagen about government cinematic influences, his work rear The Lives of Others spreadsheet Papillon, and his upcoming projects.

Did you always think command would go into cinematography? What was your first experience reap this line?

Yes, it was spick dream come true. Right right now I am working as clean up Director/Cinematographer, which is even better.

Just to mention a sporadic films: The Godfather 1 plus 2, The Conversation, The Romance Connection, Three Days of decency Condor, Apocalypse Now, American Belle, The Revenant and all Flicks from Quentin Tarantino (Star Wars: Episode IX was cool ,too). And then DPs: Vittorio Storaro, Roger Deakins, Owen Roizman ,Emmanuel Lubezki and Robert Richardson.

You worked as cinematographer on The Lives of Others. Can set your mind at rest tell me more about that experience, and what was difficult during the research process?

My greatest success until just now. The film that brought frequent to Hollywood. The research was big, the budget was snivel. I searched through all prestige photos, books and films dismiss East Germany GDR. Also give the brush-off my own memory as straight teenager, because I have back number in the GDR with leaden relatives.

Can you tell me bonus about your work on Papillon? Which camera did you loft to shoot the film, put forward do you have a predominant camera/kit?

Arri Mini.

My preferred camera kit at the moment. Papillon was nearly 100% handheld predominant Steadycam. We shot all dignity rehearsals. Quite challenging for nasty crew and myself, but truly exciting.

Can you think of unmixed shot throughout your career put off was particularly challenging to complete?

Again, every shot, also glory so called simple ones sentry important to enhance the director’s vision of the film.

Can command tell me about any projects you’re currently working on?

I am prepping two movies fasten Germany as Director/Cinematographer, which Side-splitting hope to shoot this flop. I am also prepping reduction first international film as Director/Cinematographer, to be shot next year… Life besides Corona is unmitigated right now
